Six albums of postcards (330 postcards), ca. 1908-1960. Postcards are black and white or colored, some are tinted, and some have attachments made of felt. The images are all of Mount Pleasant (Mich.) unless otherwise specified. Some of the postcards are quite rare. Vol. 1 includes postcards of Mount Pleasant (Mich.) buildings, advertisements, bridges, parks, rivers, generic floral and cute images, Michigan maps, Mount Pleasant churches, Spikehorn (John E. Meyer) of Harrison (Mich.) feeding bears, and damage caused by the Fowlerville cyclone of May 15, 1909. Vol. 2 includes postcards of generic Native Americans and racist depictions of African Americans. Vol. 3 includes postcards of the Mount Pleasant Indian School band, buildings, and student groups. Vol. 4 includes postcards of Central Michigan University buildings, gym classes attired in bloomers, a few interior building views, and a few composite images of buildings. Vol. 5 includes postcards of local oil fields, oil equipment, and oil well or derrick fires, the Roosevelt Refinery, trains, and damage caused by ice storms. Vol. 6 includes postcards of churches, including Zion Lutheran, Methodist, and Sacred Heart, schools, public buildings, streets, farm animals, and advertising. An addition to the collection includes 1 box of 330 postcards of Mount Pleasant area history.

Richard R. Brandell (Nov. 30, 1932-Oct. 12, 2004) was a long time pharmacist at Gould's Drug Store and for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe in Mount Pleasant (MIch.). He collected and loved the postcard collection.
